Australians Drop the Ball
Inspirational management is key to effective gradauate development
A great article entitled Managers Drop the Generation Y Ball has appeared on an Australian website Human Resources, billed as Australia's leading resource on HR issues.
The article, by Craig Donaldson, picks up on what A2B Graduate Development (The graduate development arm of Acorn) have been saying (and successfuly dealing with) for a number of years now. Simply that there is a gulf in the expectations and behaviours of managers and their young (graduate) employees, otherwise known as Generation Y.
The key for companies to get the best out of their investment in graduates means also investing in developing the skills of managers. No matter how much an organisation invests in a graduate development scheme it will not maximise its return on investment if managers and graduates cannot work effectively together.
