A Business Case for Building Talent

Building talent can give competitive edge

Building talent can give the Royal Mail Group plc the edge they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive market.

Royal Mail Group (RMG) are currently making a name for themselves at the forefront of best practice in Diversity and Inclusion. For an organisation of their size and nature, the business case is compelling. To relate effectively to their customers, develop the best management talent available and attract top-quality employees, RMG's workforce make-up must reflect the diversity of the society it serves.

RMG are specifically committed to ensuring minority groups in the workforce are equitably represented at all levels of management. To support this aim, they have set up a pilot Mentoring Scheme to ensure managers from under-represented groups can compete for promotion on an equal footing.

Acorn were selected by RMG's Diversity and Inclusion team to provide consultancy on the set-up of the scheme and develop a mentor-training course specifically tailored to RMG's needs and scheme objectives. Acorn are also working with RMG's occupational psychologists to measure the impact of the pilot scheme on the attitudes and perceptions of its target audience.
