Temple Heelis

TEAM COACHING - Acorn has developed a series of Team Coaching modules to help partners lead their firms in a more ‘corporate’ and cohesive style.

Temple Heelis is arguably the best known, and the largest law firm in South Lakeland. The firm offers a broad spectrum of legal services including family law, probate, litigation, and business services as well as being a major national player in the ‘bulk’ conveyancing arena.

Temple Heelis has been through an extensive period of expansion and growth. The partners and the practice director recognised a need to develop a more cohesive management style to help them maintain financial control and to plan for future growth. In addition the partners had differing views on the firm’s direction and they were keen to find a way to work more effectively as a team which would help them make important decisions and address difficult issues.

Acorn's Approach

  • Acorn conducted a series of 1 to 1 interviews with each partner to understand the team dynamics and to identify the specific barriers preventing the team from dealing with difficult issues

  • The key issues were presented together with detailed recommendations for team coaching and development

  • Acorn designed a 2-day residential team coaching session focussed on helping the team separate the process of debate from the content of the debate. This taught the team how to achieve quality outcomes and enhanced each partner’s skills and discipline to optimise their contribution in the boardroom.

Return on Investment

  • Temple Heelis has experienced a tangible and positive difference in the quality of their meetings and are now more motivated to confront and find positive outcomes to difficult issues.

  • There is a renewed optimism in clarifying the future of the business.

  • The partners now find it easier to input and discuss new ideas.

  • Renewed leadership vigour from all partners which is having a positive impact throughout the rest of the firm.
